Over the weekend there were outraged after the Queen of Hip Hop Soul, Mary J. Blige, lent her image and vocals to sing about how much she just loved the chicken wraps from Burger King.
Remixing her classic “Don’t Mind”, Mary used the melody to come up with a jazzy jingle to sing about the crispy chicken, three cheeses, lettuce, and ranch dressing wrapped up in a double tortilla shell. She did all of this while standing on top of a table interrupting the manger in a “sister girl like” fashion. Pure buffoonery at its best. Many wondered why Blige allowed herself to be portrayed in this stereotypical role.
Well our answers came. Burger King took down the video and apologized for releasing the unfinished video prematurely. They also apologized to Mary J. Blige and her fans.
Mary J. Blige has also released a statement, she said she understood why fans were upset. She said the ad didn’t come across the way it was planned and she would never put out an unfinished spot.
Burger King said they hope to have the final ad on the air soon.
Has the damaged been already done?
